Terms for business listings
Version 2026-09-15. These terms cover claiming a listing, posting prices and the Pro plan. Plain words, and we mean them literally.
Who you are dealing with
CostGuide is run by Forge Development Studio LLC, a Georgia limited liability company. Reach us any time through the contact page. These terms are governed by Georgia law, and any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts of Georgia.
Listings we build
CostGuide lists local businesses using public information, such as a company's own website, its BBB page or its chamber listing. A listing we built shows the business name, trade, town, public business phone and website. It says it is unclaimed, and it says the business is not affiliated with CostGuide. We do not publish street addresses, owner names, ratings or reviews.
Any business can ask us to correct or remove its listing, free, with no account, from the listing page. An unclaimed listing comes down as soon as you ask. A claimed one comes down after we check the request, within 2 business days.
Claiming a listing
To claim a listing you confirm you own or manage the business and can speak for it. We text one code to the business phone on the listing. Do not start a claim for a business you cannot speak for. If someone claims a listing wrongly, tell us and we will freeze it and put it back.
You are responsible for what happens under your sign-in. Tell us if you lose access to the email you claimed with.
Prices you post
Prices on your listing are yours, not ours. When you post one you are telling us, and everyone who reads it, that:
- the price is real and current for the work described
- what you wrote under "includes" is accurate
- you have named any charge that gets added on top
You agree that CostGuide may publish, format and display your posted prices on the site, including next to CostGuide's own estimate for that service and town. You can change or delete a price at any time, and deleting it takes it off the site.
We ask you to confirm each price every 90 days. After 90 days your listing says the price has not been confirmed. After 120 days we hide it. We may also hide or remove any listing or price that looks wrong, misleading or abusive, and we will tell you why.
What CostGuide's own numbers are
CostGuide publishes its own estimated price ranges, built from public wage and cost data. They are planning estimates, not quotes, and not an appraisal of your business. When your posted price shows as below, within or above our estimate, that is a comparison with our estimate, nothing more. How we work it out is on the how we price page.
What we do not do
Nobody can pay CostGuide to change its estimates, to change how a posted price is compared, or to move up a list of local businesses. Any paid placement is labeled and sits apart from those lists.
Pro plan
Claiming is free and stays free. Claiming also gives you Pro free for 90 days. We do not ask for a card during those 90 days, and nothing starts charging on its own when they end.
If you choose Pro after that, it costs $19 per month, charged to the card you enter, renewing every month until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your account page or by emailing us, and cancelling stops the next charge. We do not refund a month already started unless something on our side broke. If we change the price, we will tell you at least 30 days beforehand.
Things we have to say plainly
CostGuide is provided as it is. We do not promise the site will always be available, that our estimates will match what any job costs, or that a listing will bring you customers. To the extent the law allows, Forge Development Studio LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
If a price you post turns out to be wrong or out of date and someone relies on it, that is on you, and you agree to cover us for claims that come from what you posted.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we will say so on your account page or by email before it takes effect, and the version at the top of this page will change. You can stop using CostGuide at any time and ask us to remove your listing.
