How CostGuide uses your information
When you ask for a callback, we collect your name, phone, ZIP, the job, how soon you need it, and any notes you add, so we can send the request to the one independent plumber who covers your town.
What we collect
- Homeowners: name, phone, ZIP, job details, and the notes you choose to add.
- Plumbers asking about a territory: shop name, contact name, phone, email, town, and notes.
When you send a form, it also notes how you found this site, such as a search engine, Google Maps, or a link we shared, and the first page you visited. That note is kept in your own browser until you send the form, and it is not a cookie. It is saved with your request as a reference number and a source, so we can tell which pages and links bring requests. Ad click codes are noted only as present, never stored.
How it is used
Your request is stored by CostGuide and delivered to the plumber for your town (or to our team for a plumber inquiry) by CRM, email, and text. We do not send the same homeowner request to a second plumber in that town.
Business listings
We build listings from public information, such as a company's own website, its BBB page or its chamber listing. A listing holds the business name, trade, town, public business phone and website. We do not publish street addresses or owner names. Any business can ask us to correct or remove its listing, free, with no account, on its listing page.
When you claim a listing
We keep your name, your email and the date you claimed. We send one text with a code to the business phone on the listing, and Twilio sends that text for us. Reply STOP to that text and we never text the number again. We keep your email so you can sign back in, and Resend sends those emails for us. Signing in sets one cookie so the site knows it is you; it holds a random session number and nothing else.
For a claimed listing we count how many people viewed it, tapped the phone number and clicked the website, by day, with no names attached. Ask us and we will delete your account and everything in it.
Checking a written quote
When you upload a quote on the quote check page, the file is sent to Anthropic, whose Claude AI reads it, and the result is shown to you. Anthropic does not use it to train its AI, and deletes it within 30 days, or keeps it up to 2 years if its safety systems flag it. CostGuide does not keep the file or the text read from it. To limit uploads to five a day, CostGuide counts them under a one-way code made from your connection and the date. The code cannot be turned back into your address.
If you tick the box to add your prices, CostGuide saves the kind of work, the city, the total, and the type and amount of each charge. It never saves the file, names, addresses or phone numbers.
What we do not do
We do not sell a shared lead list. ZIP codes outside the towns we cover are marked out of area. Please do not include health details you would not want a plumber to see.
